ALKESTIS

The ultimate sacrifice, Queen Alkestis gives the flame of her own life to her husband, King Admetus, so that he may postpone his own imminent death. This poster, with the purpose of advertising a production of the classical theater production, embodies the nature of the sacrifice. Using matches as a metaphor, it shows Alkestis' fire being extinguished so that Admetus' may burn brighter.
